The Secret

Posted on Jul 30th, 2007 by sphorbis : Integration Ambassador sphorbis
I apologize in advance to everyone that has already seen the move The Secret. My wife and I just watched it last night, and at first glance it was everything that I've heard and seen before, just my mind making my reality. Then for some reason things started to click. It is a belief in most Gnostic Christianity that the demiurge (false god) was created out of bad thinking. To me this idea of this secret revealed the truth behind the myth. Like most things this story was trying to people that bad thinking can create bad things. Its also interesting that people are either too ignorant or too lazy (like me) to decipher these myths. Instead they go through life believing in the letter of the word writen in the books they believe are holy, not seeing the profound truths of life that are (and aren't) hiding behind the story.
Thinking of this makes me understand why Jesus and Buddha, and scores of other teacher-prophets got so upset after they related a parable and their students wanted them to explain what they mean.
Esoteric is only esoteric because you want to be. I don't think I'm special from linking certain things together, I just had to look. That's the key, be dynamic, unyielding, and in a constant search for knowledge and wisdom. That, not a guru, or a book, will save and enlighten you.

That sounds just like... Oh no!

Posted on Feb 19th, 2007 by sphorbis : Integration Ambassador sphorbis
I give up! I hopped into the car today and turned to a radio station that I can usually at least tolerate. Then I was like wait a second... "Did I hit the CD button on accident?" No, this sounds ALMOST exactly like Gym Class Heroes. But it wasn't, it was the watered down radio-version, but alas, I knew the day would come. I knew from the second I started listening and checked out their website and they wanted help to be on TRL. You've got to almost hate real music if you EVER think that TRL is the proving ground. Well adieu Gym Class Heroes, it was a great time.
As for the rest of you... Please don't do it. Mainstream doesn't mean you gain fans. Ask 311. Today we're too focused on quantity rather than quality. Why do you think it takes Tool an average of 4 years to release an album. They care. I'm sorry if you don't, or even think you do. This will always be an art and if you got in it for any other reason than that, shame on you.

Late

Posted on Sep 26th, 2006 by sphorbis : Integration Ambassador sphorbis
It's pretty late and I'm about to go on post...
I haven't smoked since Friday. I kinda went back to dipping, but not much, just enough to take the fiend off. People say it won't work. Screw em.
I don't know if its the qutting smoking or I just realized how cynical I have been lately. Or maybe generally.
I read about this guy Jakob von Uexkull. He's trying to start a committee that would try to influence world politics using influential people from all around the world. I like the idea, but at the same time I have this nagging cynical feeling that it's too good to be true. Corruption is too prevelant. I think it boils down to how much I trust people these days. You can blame that on Bush, my ex's, or religion. Maybe I'm overreacting. Maybe I'm seeing the truth for the first time, but I don't think the light is this dark.
I'm thinking of canking my Integral Institute membership. I don't do anything with it and truthfully have no idea what to do with it. I also raise a few contentions with those guys, but I won't rain on anyone's parade, especially Ken Wilber.
I need to start listening to Eckhart Tolle again.
Somebody check this guy G Love out for me and tell me what you think, I can't decide. I keep going back and forth.

Busy

Posted on Sep 17th, 2006 by sphorbis : Integration Ambassador sphorbis
I have been really busy, well in my opinion I've been busy. I can't seem to focus on anything. I'm trying to stay up to date with the Integral Institute and this thing called Global MindShift. Trying to prepare and foresee my marriage in November. I start college classes in October. My roommate and I are trying to find places to hangout in Hawaii by getting lost. I'm starting 'sphorbital', which I don't really know where that's going, but it will kinda show my progression as a web designer.
sphorbital is a figment of my imagination. I like to think of it as the future. A paradigm shift. The word I think of when the distant future is unknown and not so distant. It means community and cooperation, in the new future... NOW.
I have found a couple of places in Hawaii that I would like to give a shot out to. Coffee Talk in Kaimuki, exceeded my expectations. Great coffee (don't let the reviews fool you). Great atmosphere and the staff there were righteously helpful. I don't know if they sensed I'd never been there before or they know everyone that comes there, but they helped out without condescending. Secondly, Properity Corner  is a great place for occult items. I'm not particularly too interested in much there but I bought a Buddha, and accident broke a water nymph. The lady who worked there was so nice even when I was freaking out that I just dropped one of the statuettes. She told me that she regularly does it and I didn't need to worry about it. Lastly is Book Ends in Kailua. Great place if you're looking for bargain books or just want to be immersed in books all about your being. Very knowledgeable staff, first people I've seen actually talking about literature in a book store. Creepy.
It's official... I'm getting married the first week of November. No exact date, but some time between the 3rd and 8th. Suprisingly no dirty comments about how I'm too young and how I'm throwing my life away from anyone. *smile*
Good night and good luck

Yesterday (still 9/11 for me)

Posted on Sep 12th, 2006 by sphorbis : Integration Ambassador sphorbis
Its just barely 9/12, so I consider it 9/11. I just discovered my new hero. Keith Olbermann. This video is why. He speaks with eloquence, determination, and plainly put... balls. He's doesn't go to far left and start demanding why evil midgets are parading as gnomes in his front yard trying to steal the secret code in his brain. I liked it. I totally agreed with everything. Restrained anger mixed with a to-the-point attitude.
I got that link from a very good blog I just found. Integral Options Cafe. I haven't been able to read much of it, but I have lately had a renewed interest in Buddhism, and I just got on the integral bandwagon. I'm trying to catch up with what I don't know about on both of them. I'm still really lost though. I just need time. I really should think about sleep, maybe I'll meditate on it.

I'M BACK

Posted on Sep 4th, 2006 by sphorbis : Integration Ambassador sphorbis
Well I have been home for a few hours, and I'm really tired (jet lag kills, kids) so I will keep this brief. Korea was fun, at times. It was a great experience in the culture and such, I just didn't like working there with the people I was working with. Not all were bad, but the people I like know who I'm talking about.
I got to meet a few generals, got a couple of coins, and watched what it would look like at the command center of a war with the other Korea. Not very interesting, maybe it would've been if it were real. I'm just hoping it would be a little less sterile in there if real people's lives were on the line.
The cities were nice. I have my qualms with the city, like every one else. But I thought it appealing to be able to buy breakfast, "window shop", pay your cell phone bill, and visit your whole neighborhood without stepping more than 100 yards (or meters for "those" kinds of people) from your house. People think that Asians have adapted well to the intimacy of technology, but I think Asians are making the tech work for them.
I got (some) pictures coming soon. Don't hold your breath though.

Good night and good luck.

Well...

Posted on Aug 4th, 2006 by sphorbis : Integration Ambassador sphorbis
Its 3 AM, I haven't been to sleep. I don't want to suffer from jet lag too bad. Today was a mess, they got my hopes up with a bunch of free money, but that fell through. Oh well, didn't really need it in the first place. I also found out I'm going to be in the field most of the time. OH JOY! I'll get through it, it'll probably fun too. Well see you all in September.

WHAT!?

Posted on Aug 2nd, 2006 by sphorbis : Integration Ambassador sphorbis
Propaganda_korea

I got a pretty interesting call today. It was from one of my sergeants. He asked if I was busy, I told him not really. Then he told me I was going to Korea. WHAT!? "When?", I asked as coolly as possible. He told me that he would tell me all the details later.

How are you gonna just call somebody up and tell them they're going to a foreign country that's really pissing the U.S. government off right now and then tell them that you'll get back to them. I act as if it were a big deal, because at the time it was... to me. I had no idea why I was going, when, for how long, etc, etc, etc.

What I found out later is that I'm leaving THIS friday (isn't the military great) and I'll be back in 30 days or so (once again, awesome). At this time I don't really know what I'll be doing or where I'll be. Rumor is I'm going to be some sort of driver, in what capacity that will be I don't know.

Weird, weird day. Wish me luck and keep me in your prayers.

Good night.

An Integral Truth

Posted on Aug 1st, 2006 by sphorbis : Integration Ambassador sphorbis
Aninconvenienttruth

Wow, today's been pretty interesting. Work was... well work was work. After work my roommate and I went and saw An Inconvenient Truth. I highly recommend the movie. It points through the misty fog and blatently shows you that this not a 'theory'. This is fact. This is real. What I didn't get was why Al Gore sprinkled little tidbits of his biography into the movie. Was it really necessary for the overall story. This blogger thinks not. Still, he did manage to kinda tie it in... kinda. I thought I was doing all that I can, but this movie made me realize I can do so much more. I think my pod (http://pods.zaadz.com/Keep_Hawaii_Beautiful) will be a start. I want to find people that think like me... globally. Not many of those hanging around the barracks.

I also joined Integral Naked and the Integral Spiritual Center tonight. I haven't gotten too much into it yet. So if anybody can give me some tips on it, please message me and tell me all the cool little things I can do with it.

Tick, tick, tick. Back to the present. The time is 2318 and tonight was field day (ick). Must get sleep. I'll try to keep everything updated. Please support my pod, even if you're not from Hawaii, and you just want to keep it beautiful.

New Pod

Posted on Jul 30th, 2006 by sphorbis : Integration Ambassador sphorbis

Well I was accepted as an ambassador today. Don't reall know what that means other than the free t-shirt and fliers. But they said it would be a good idea if I set up a pod. So I thought to myself, "What can I have a pod about that everyone else hasn't already?".

I decided awhile back on an aimless drive through some of Hawaii's "country" that there needs to be a clean-up project. Highway 99 had trash everywhere. So I'm starting a clean-up Hawaii pod. Hopefully, I can gather enough people to help keep Hawaii this beautiful. This pod will also be a place for Hawaii's enviromentalists to gather and be with like minded people. Wish me luck...
